Academic Programme - EXAP

THE SOPHIA EDUCATION TO EXCELLENCE IN ARTS PROGRAMME

This programme was launched for the First Year B.A. class in June 1993. Ten students are now selected each year for a course of study that will help them to pursue goals which are beyond the confines of the University syllabi. The students, under the guidance of their lecturers, work on research projects and present seminar papers. They are encouraged to develop analytical and critical skills and are assigned tasks that will inculcate the spirit of teamwork and give ample scope for their organisational abilities. As part of the students' growth and development they will be required to participate in some form of social work.

The selection for this programme is through a quiz followed by a written test in the form of an essay, to ascertain the students' intellectual potential. The process will conclude with an interview to assess their verbal skills/ability. It would supplement, not substitute, the University course and the sessions will be held after college hours. No student who is selected will be exempted from fulfilling the requirements of the University course. It will extend over four academic terms beginning from the second term of the F.Y.B.A. continuing through both the terms of the S.Y.B.A. and terminating at the end of the first term of the T.Y.B.A.

All students will be graded and the outstanding students who satisfy all the requirements of the course will receive the 'Mahindra Search for Talent Scholarships'. The Mrs. Geeta Khandelwal prizes will be awarded to the students who secure second and third ranks in the programme.
