       The Alumni Association is a vibrant body connected not only with campus activities but also committed to social work. Linkages with the college include, holding English Language Development classes, a SCESA bazaar to which NGO's are invited to sell their products and holding career guidance events, workshops and lectures.

       Foremost among the collaborative ventures is the SCESA- SHARE collaboration. Funds are raised to implement water- harvesting projects in villages in the Raigad district. To date 62 villages have been helped. The association also runs the Sophia Barat Centre, a Rural Sustainable Development Programme at Mandgaon.

       The association also collaborates with CMCA – Childrens Movement for Civic Awareness. This organization conducts sessions, forms civic clubs and strives to create civic awareness by concentrating on various topics like water management and solid waste management.

       Lok hith is another organization association with SCESA. Lok hith is a small group of citizens concerned about a just and fair society, and is working for ethics in public life. They conduct lecturers and workshops, which aim at developing caring, responsible citizens and accountable, ethical public servants and public organisations.

       Sophia College has produced over the years many distinguished alumnae.

 

AMASC

       The World Association of Alumnae and Alumni of the Sacred Heart (AMASC), is an international body that aims at upholding the values and faith alumni receive through an education in a Sacred Heart institution. Rooted in the spirit of internationality and currently present in 44 countries, the Society seeks a global perspective in inter- cultural awareness.

       A World Congress is held every four years and alumnae / alumni of Sacred Heart Institutions gather together to share their views on a theme chosen for each congress. In 2002, the 12 th World Congress was held at Sydney , Australia and the theme was ‘Reconcilication' India was represented by a squad of 12 members.

       In 2006, the venue of the 13 th World Congress had to be shifted from New Orleans to New York because of extensive damage cause by the hurricanes. The congress was attended by the chairperson of SCESA and the chairperson of AMASC. The theme was “Collaboration for a Transformed World” student who receive an education in a Sacred Heart Institution are urged to deepen the awareness of their own gifts and blessings so that they can use them to their fullest to help transform the world.

 

FUTURE PLANS

Higher Education today is at crossroads. The need of the hour, for an institution of excellence is to continuously upgrade existing facilities, arrangement infrastructure and provide more amenities both for students as well as staff. Sophia college has drawn up an ambitious five- year plan to help maintain our image of being a premier institution which imparts quality education to young WOMEN

The five-year plan encompasses the following –

•  Improvement of infrastructure
•  upgradation of existing facilities
•  outreach & welfare schemes funds will be raised to make these plans a reality.
