The objective of the UGC scheme is to introduce career and market-oriented skill enhancing add-on courses that have utility for jobs, self-employment and empowerment of students. All regular senior college students can opt for any of the following certificate courses parallel to their B.A., B.Sc. and B.M.M. programmes.

All the courses are designed to give students an overview of theory pertaining to the concepts they have to study, practical work and field visits
The Women’s Empowerment Course aims at providing the students a theoretical framework to women’s studies and a practical orientation to social work. Workshops on counselling, assertiveness training, self -defense are held to augment the value of the course. Visits to rural resource centres for women are arranged to familiarize the students with the various problems women in rural areas face.
The students of the women’s empowerment course can avail of books and CDs on various women’s issues and they are encouraged to make use of information and communication technology as a newer form of pedagogy for women’s studies.
