| This scholarship provides an opportunity for an intelligent, female student of high merit and capability for an excellent education and a broadened horizon, including the experience of interacting with a student body drawn from an international community. The expectation is that the student would be a motivated individual who would contribute to the community in due course as a result of her educational opportunity. This opportunity would not have been otherwise available to her due to financial limitations. |

- Outstanding intellect - demonstrated, by academic excellence (having completed or are about to complete by the end of the year of application, High School (English Medium) with outstanding results;
- Leadership - demonstrated and potential, including outside an applicant’s field of study. Leadership skills may also be demonstrated by the range and degree of engagements in cultural, community and sporting activities;
- Altruism and active citizenship - community consciousness and service;
- Presentation - inter-personal and communication skills; Character strengths;
- Financial hardship that make it difficult for the student to pursue higher education in a good Institute that would provide an all-round education.

| The 3 year bursary provides payment of hostel fees for the student to reside at Sophia College, on campus as a hostelite, College fees for the course of her choice, up to a maximum of Rs 10,000 per annum. There is also provision of pocket money to supplement additional living expenses of approx Rs 500 per month. |

Application to be made to Sophia College, Mumbai by February each year.
Selection committee to notify the successful applicant by end March, on preliminary basis.
Final grant of scholarship subject to candidate’s final exam results in May/June Decision of the Selection Committee is final, owing no explanation to anyone other than the endower. |

- 3 years degree course
- Student achieves the expected percentage cut-off for course of choice
- Means test – financial hardship, based on information provided by the applicant’s school principal
- Eligibility Certificate – provisional is sufficient from applicant

| Note: all students resident in the Sophia College hostel must have a local guardian in Mumbai |

- Return to school to do an annual presentation on topic of their choice, related to the education they’ve received (100 word abstract to be sent to Sophia College Selection committee 1 month in advance of presentation)
- Maintenance of good level of academic performance, attendance in class, compliance with College and Hostel rules, and participation in College / Hostel activities to an adequate level (as judged by the College and agreed by the Selection Committee)
- Continuation of scholarship for future years is dependent on compliance with above points

Supportive information from someone who has known the student for more than 2 years and provides background to the student’s application
- Academic transcript (Marks sheet, including Std 10) & evidence of extra-curricular activities
- Evidence of financial situation
Statement from the student’s high School Principal regarding the student’s financial need for support for future study
- Completed Application Form & recent (last 6 months) passport-sized photo
- Telephone Interview for selected applicants (if required)
- Application to be counter signed (attested) by Principal of Applicant’s school
